Dear dkng,
To establish 'l', you can try to introduce some vocal play with tongue elevation (like singing 'la la la', ' la le li lo lu") or playing tongue clicks.
But it seems your child is at the beginning stage of acquiring 'l' because your child tries to replace 'l' by 'n' in the word 'little' (while 'n' and 'l' share similar articualtion placement). So, this is not a major concern at your child's age. You are encouraged to use vocal play as a demonstration of 'l' sound and let your child imitate.
You can also bring your child to have a speech assessment if you want more specific comment on your child's speech ability.

My child is 26 months old (2 years + 2 months), he also pronouce "little" as "nee-to" (l becomes n sound). He pronounces "blue" as "boo".
How can we teach him to pronounce "l" sound? Thanks.

It's likely 'without l' or substitute by 'j'.
Try on the vocal play.
Go to have a speech assessment and you can have more specific advice on your girl's problem.

Hi Sharon,
Thanks for the reply. I will try to explain more. When I ask her to say "la", her tongue is touching the bottom of the mouth. Not touching the top teeth.

Dear Mrs. Lee,
If it is 'little' to 'neetle', it is the difference between 'l' and 'n' ( oral and nasal sound) only!
Is that true?
Will that be 'l' to 'j' or other error pattern.
To establish 'l', you may introduce some vocal play, like tongue clicks, tongue moving anteriorly out of the the teeth and then back, tongue elevation to the back of upper teech (incisor), etc.
But if it is only the difference between 'l' and 'n', she needs a totally different approach.

Dear Sharon,
Thanks for your reply.
When she doesn't pronounce "little" properly, I will hear "neetle"
I will try your suggestion, but she seems to notice that she has a problem in that. Therefore, she sometimes refuse to say it. Is there any games I can play with her?
Thanks a lot!

Dear Mrs. Lee,
There is quite special if your child can say 'blue' but not 'little'.
The 'l' in blue is between word, but the 'l' in 'little' and 'low' is just at the initial.
So, will you try to lead her saying 'blue blue blue lu lu lu'. If it works, you then change the vowel. 'blue blue lu lu lo lo la la' and so on
By the way, when she is not saying 'little' properly, what sounds does she use to substitute that. It is also important in training.

Dear,
My daughter is 3 years and 3 months old. When she pronounce "la", her tongue is not moving. She can prononuce "blue" properly, but not "little", "low", etc. Doctor confirm that her tongue isn't too short. Is there any exercise to improve this situation.
Many thanks!
